Francis Montanier was born in Lyon in 1895 and started his artistic career in 1923. In 1924 he won a bronze medal at the Salons des Artistes Francais and in the same year he won Le Prix de Rome in Rome, where he spent a great deal of time painting.
His work is exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, as well as many museums around the world.
