Collette was born on the French island of la Reunion in the Indian ocean, as an adolescent he moves to Paris in order to continue his studies. In 1954 he joins the Central school of Electronics in Paris, however by 1957 he discovers his true vocation for art and attends L’Ecole superieure de dessin de la ville de Paris, he finally becomes intensly dedicated to sculpture obvioulsy highly influenced by Alexander Calder.
The intracate construction of his mobile sculptures, his choice of materials, aesthetics and the playful nature of the object make his pieces to be very attractive and sought after.
